issues:"organic connection"

branding: The scenario has dealt with issues concerning the border in an urban environment. The wall was a frequent device used as a separator, but to a great extent also as a connector of urban phenomena. The game has shown how a wall can house different programmes relating to the needs of the context to the point where the appearance of the application changes completely.

earth: Different kinds of border conflicts were simulated in the game as for example: public/private, rich/poor, kawasaki city/tokyo city, open landscape/dense city, circulation space/function divider etc. During the development of the scenario the separator appeared as an "organic wall", organic not only in shape but also carrying the idea of a sustainable urban device, like a recycling point that could contain other programmes like vertical garden, art gallery, artists studio, composting plant etc.

composting

flow: The game pointed out examplesof where this device could be applied. In time it is possible that such device could be inserted in similar border conditions throughout Tokyo and other places adapting to the requirements of the specific site.

incorporation: This thought is reinforced by the system of funding in Tokyo and Japan where the environmental departments strongly supports projects dealing with ecological systems and sustainable materials. The idea of integrating green surfaces and ecological systems into high density areas will add to the connectivity between estranged existing organisations and programmes, but also encourage the creation of new urban phenomena.
