Earth Prototype 1 The prototype addresses and transforms a wide variety of issues and organizational structures, in the case of the tower block the prototype takes the form of an parasite structure that is attached to the buildings façade, and consists of a small elevator and lobbies. The prototype is not limited in its application and can be articulated and dressed in many forms. It provides a system of small circulations that on one hand help to define and generate local identities and on the other frees them from being dependent on a large, over congested traffic system. The other function of the prototype is to act as a PROBE that once is sent to a certain site it CRACKS it open and CONDITIONS the cracks to receive new types of programs. Prototype 2 The modular structure of the prototype allows it to expand or decrease along its vertical host, the column. It defers from the P1 by not having a mutual lobby but small, private lobbies that are counter levered from the concrete slabs, making doors redundant since the lobby performs as an extension of the balcony. As in P1 the elevator is guided along two rails and it does not require an engine room. s |
