ACTION PLAN

Time Frame:

30 years

Specification:

Catch 24 will be existing in most of the world’s larger cities, influencing the innovative thinking and generating smart ideas and smart user methods all over the world. The use and reuse of smart materials and systems bring the production costs and the amount of waste down to minimum. As the users change and ideas grow, the use of the prototype will become more and more intelligent, having a great impact on the general use of buildings and cities as the users move on to the standard market.

Description:

The use of the prototype is initiated and coordinated by Catch 24 (angels) in cooperation with the city (agent) providing the plots. The use of the modules will then be carried out by the startups themselves (actors), allowing them to take their individual directions on different locations. The structure has it’s initial phase in Tempelhof, which serves as a perfect start location giving the attention needed for the structure to grow. Over time the structure will be applied on different spots throughout the world and in it’s expanding cities, housing startups and temporary users while allowing the regular market to stabilize.

Initially, there will be sustainable, constructive elements produced as the use of the prototype increases. Due to the reuse of the modules, production will however be minimized in the long run and there will be very little waste within the system. The flexibility of the system allows it to adapt to different locations and uses.

Through the shared space concept with different startups spending time as temporary neighbors, the prototype works as an incubator where innovative ideas are developed at an increasing rate over time. The network remains free and cannot stagnate due to the temporary nature of the system. This contributes to an intelligent and aware development of the cities.

Descritpion:
Municipality provides a site that is part of tempelhof masterplan. The prefabricated space frame structure is set up.

PHASE 2

year 1-2

phase 2

Actors and Elements: Municipality
Startups
Residents
Planers
Architects
Engineers
Public
Investors
PT[SFS2]

Descritpion:
First users adapt modules according to their individual needs. They begin developing their startups and form the first small village. A database will be established with the users´ experience which works as incubator for the next tenants.

PHASE 3

year 2-4

phase 3

Actors and Elements: Startups
Residents
Architects
Engineers
Public
Investors

Descritpion:
The modular elements are passed on to a new round of users. At the same time the structure grows as the typology becomes accepted and well known among startups within the city.

PHASE 4

year 4-6

phase 4

Actors and Elements: Startups
Residents
Architects
Engineers
Public
Investors

Descritpion:
The structure grows further, at the same time new "villages" appear on other locations. Units from one place might move to new places according to the development of the city, due to the recyclability of the system no further production is required for this.

PHASE 5

year 6-30

spreading

Actors and Elements: Cities
Politicians
Startups
Residents
Planers
Architects
Engineers
Public
Investors

Descritpion:
The prototype is applied in other cities throughout the world. Ideas are generated and passed on between users - a new smart thinking develops. The market stabilizes.
