DESCRIPTION
The hydroponic supermarket only sells fruit and vegetables that have been produced locally. The food is produced through a number of agricultural components, most significantly through the use of hydroponic growing towers.

BRANDING
The supermarket will benefit from the publicity such a scheme is likely to create.

EARTH
L-shaped building in which hydroponic and residential towers are supported from a ground floor supermarket acting as a plinth.

FLOW
The water system is essential for the success of the building. Nutrients, fresh water, and drainage water all need to be efficiently managed and incorporated into the building’s design.

INCORPORATION
The project is funded by a supermarket chain. The housing and commercial space make it profitable. The local food producing aspect gives it more weight when planning permission is being requested.
