DESCRIPTION
Electroysis is the process of electro-chemically spliting water molecules (H2O) into its constituent components of Hydrogen (H2) and Oxygen (O2). The decomposition of water takes place in a so called electrolyser cell and consists of two partial reactions that take place at the two electrodes. The electrodes are placed in an ion-conducting electrolyte for maximum efficiency. When an electric direct current (DC) passes through the water gaseous hydrogen is produced at the negative electrode (cathode) and oxygen at the positive electrode (anode).
Electrolysis is one of the simplest/cheapest ways of generating Hydrogen gas on its own.
